This module compares what one appliance draws against what another draws, over the same hours and at the same electricity rate. It needs a product with a published wattage to compare, and none is chosen yet.
How this is worked out
The formula

The same duty cycle on both sides
A thermostatically controlled appliance cycles: it does not draw its rated power continuously. Whatever cycle we apply to the throw, we apply to the comparison. When we have no measured figure from the supplier we use 100 % on both sides, which over-states our own consumption. Applying a reduced cycle to our product and 100 % to a radiator would produce a flattering gap that nobody could check.
Rounding
Every amount is calculated in whole minor units of the currency — pence, cents — and rounded half up once, at the end. A week is priced from the energy used across the week, not by multiplying a rounded evening.

What happens when a rate goes out of date
If the rate on file is more than 90 days old, this page removes every amount and shows kilowatt-hours only. A kilowatt-hour is a physical fact and does not expire. A price does.
This compares two appliances running for the same length of time. It is not a comparison of your heating bill.
