No reviews yet

We opened this year, so there are no reviews yet. Here are the numbers instead: 60 W, 3 heat settings, 3.0 hours . And if it isn't right, send it back within fourteen days.

What this is

  • 60 W, where a plug-in radiator draws 2,000 W
  • Three heat settings
  • Cuts off after three hours
  • 150 × 80 cm, laid under your sheet

Warm the bed, not the bedroom.

An underblanket goes under your bottom sheet and stays there all winter. You switch it on before you go up, and by the time you get in, the bed is warm.

It draws 60 W. A plug-in radiator draws 2,000 W, and it heats the air in a room you are about to close your eyes in.

Three settings, and a cut-off after three hours.

Safety

It is an electrical appliance that spends the night under a person. So this is the second thing on the page, not the last.

  • A three-hour cut-off. The power stops after three hours, whether or not you remember.
  • 220-240 V, on a BS 1363 three-pin plug.

Read the instructions before first use. They tell you how this underblanket is meant to be laid, tied and used, and what it is not for. The full text is in the box.

Before you use it

  • Not for a baby, or a child who cannot work the controller.
  • Not for anyone who cannot feel heat properly, or who could not react to it getting too hot.
  • Do not use it folded or creased, and do not put it on top of you. This one goes under the sheet.
  • Do not put pins or needles in it.
  • Look at the cable and the fabric before each winter. If anything is scorched, frayed or cracked, stop using it and tell us.
  • Unplug it before washing, and let it dry completely before it goes back on.

What it costs to run

At its highest setting this underblanket draws 60 W. A typical portable heater draws 2,000 W.

In energy: 0.24 kWh against 8.00 kWh for the same four hours.

The manufacturer rates this element at 55 to 60 W. We use 60 W everywhere on this page (the top of the range), so the figure never flatters us.

This compares two appliances running for the same length of time. It is not a comparison of your heating bill.

Change the hours, the evenings per week and the tariff yourself: What it costs to run.

Material and care

Never put the controller in water. Let it dry fully before you use it again, and never switch it on to dry it.

Why it is safe to leave on

This is an electrical appliance you put on a bed. Here is exactly what stops it getting too hot.

  • Switches itself off after 3.0 hours

Protections fitted

  • Three-hour automatic cut-off

Certificates on file

We publish a certification mark only when we hold the certificate that names this exact model. We do not hold one for this product yet, so none is shown.

Sizes — Heated Underblankets - United Kingdom

Read this before you choose. Hazel and Rowan measure 150 by 80 cm single and 160 by 140 cm double: they warm the part of the bed you lie on, not the whole mattress. Oak measures 190 by 90 cm single and 190 by 140 cm double, which is the full length of most mattresses. Neither is a fault; they are two different products, and the difference is the reason Oak costs more.

How to measure

Measure the length and the width of the mattress itself, without any bedding on it. Write both figures down and compare them to the table above. If the underblanket is shorter than the mattress, the part it does not reach stays cold - decide whether that part is where your feet go before you choose. An underblanket wider than the mattress will not lie flat and will crease.
