We opened this year, so there are no reviews yet. Here are the numbers instead: 70 W, 6 heat settings, 9.0 hours . And if it isn't right, send it back within fourteen days.
What this is
- Two heated zones: 45 °C across the body, 55 °C at the feet
- 190 × 90 cm, the full length and width of a single mattress
- 70 W, where a plug-in radiator draws 2,000 W
- Six settings and a timer at one, three or nine hours
- Detachable controller
- Elasticated cord and skirt, so it stays where you put it
Warm the bed, not the bedroom. And warm the foot of it more.
Most underblankets heat one flat area at one temperature. This one has two zones: the manufacturer specifies 45 °C across the body and 55 °C at the feet. Feet are the last part of you to warm up, and they are the reason people give up on a cold bed.
190 × 90 cm. This is the one that runs the full length and width of a single mattress rather than covering the middle of it.
An elasticated cord and a skirt hold it to the mattress, so it does not travel in the night and gather into a ridge.
It draws 70 W. A plug-in radiator draws 2,000 W to heat the air in a room you are about to close your eyes in.
Safety
It is an electrical appliance that spends the night under a person. So this is the second thing on the page, not the last.
- The controller detaches at the underblanket. The electronics come off, and they never go near water.
- A timer you choose: one, three or nine hours. When it runs out, the power stops.
- Stamp-welded construction on the heating element, the joining method the manufacturer uses on this model.
- 220-240 V, on a BS 1363 three-pin plug.
Read the instructions before first use. The full text is in the box.
Before you use it
- Not for a baby, or a child who cannot work the controller.
- Not for anyone who cannot feel heat properly, or who could not react to it getting too hot.
- Do not use it folded or creased, and do not put it on top of you. This one goes under the sheet.
- Do not put pins or needles in it.
- Look at the cable and the fabric before each winter. If anything is scorched, frayed or cracked, stop using it and tell us.
- Unplug it before washing, and let it dry completely before it goes back on.
What it costs to run
At its highest setting this underblanket draws 70 W. A typical portable heater draws 2,000 W.
In energy: 0.28 kWh against 8.00 kWh for the same four hours.
Two heated zones at two temperatures, and the whole thing still draws less than a bedside lamp used to.
This compares two appliances running for the same length of time. It is not a comparison of your heating bill.
Change the hours, the evenings per week and the tariff yourself: What it costs to run.
Material and care
The controller unclips.
Never put the controller in water. Let the underblanket dry fully before you use it again, and never switch it on to dry it.
Why it is safe to leave on
This is an electrical appliance you put on a bed. Here is exactly what stops it getting too hot.
- Switches itself off after 9.0 hours
- The controller detaches, so the textile goes in the machine
Protections fitted
- Detachable controller
- Timer cut-off at 1, 3 or 9 hours
- Stamp-welded heating element

Sizes — Heated Underblankets - United Kingdom
Read this before you choose. Hazel and Rowan measure 150 by 80 cm single and 160 by 140 cm double: they warm the part of the bed you lie on, not the whole mattress. Oak measures 190 by 90 cm single and 190 by 140 cm double, which is the full length of most mattresses. Neither is a fault; they are two different products, and the difference is the reason Oak costs more.
