No reviews yet
We opened this year, so there are no reviews yet. Here are the numbers instead: 100 W, 6 heat settings, 6.0 hours . And if it isn't right, send it back within fourteen days.
What this is
- 100 W, where a plug-in radiator draws 2,000 W
- PTC element, specified by the manufacturer as faster to reach temperature
- Six heat settings
- Timer at two, four or six hours
- 150 × 80 cm, laid under your sheet
Warm the bed, not the bedroom.
An underblanket goes under your bottom sheet and stays there all winter. You switch it on before you go up, and by the time you get in, the bed is warm.
Underneath it is a PTC heating element: a wire whose resistance rises as it warms, so it draws less current the hotter it gets. The manufacturer specifies it as reaching temperature faster than a standard element. We have not measured it ourselves, so we do not publish a time. When we have, the number will appear here.
Six settings, so the difference between two of them is small enough to matter. A timer at two, four or six hours, not a fixed cut-off you cannot move.
Safety
It is an electrical appliance that spends the night under a person. So this is the second thing on the page, not the last.
- A timer you choose: two, four or six hours. When it runs out, the power stops.
- A PTC element, which draws less current as it warms rather than more.
- 220-240 V, on a BS 1363 three-pin plug.
Read the instructions before first use. The full text is in the box.
Before you use it
- Not for a baby, or a child who cannot work the controller.
- Not for anyone who cannot feel heat properly, or who could not react to it getting too hot.
- Do not use it folded or creased, and do not put it on top of you. This one goes under the sheet.
- Do not put pins or needles in it.
- Look at the cable and the fabric before each winter. If anything is scorched, frayed or cracked, stop using it and tell us.
- Unplug it before washing, and let it dry completely before it goes back on.
What it costs to run
At its highest setting this underblanket draws 100 W. A typical portable heater draws 2,000 W.
In energy: 0.40 kWh against 8.00 kWh for the same four hours.
We calculate on the full 100 W for the whole four hours. A PTC element does not in fact draw its rated power continuously. But we have no measured duty cycle from the manufacturer, so we assume the worst case, which overstates our own figure rather than the heater's.
This compares two appliances running for the same length of time. It is not a comparison of your heating bill.
Change the hours, the evenings per week and the tariff yourself: What it costs to run.
Material and care
Never put the controller in water. Let it dry fully before you use it again, and never switch it on to dry it.
Why it is safe to leave on
This is an electrical appliance you put on a bed. Here is exactly what stops it getting too hot.
- Switches itself off after 6.0 hours
Protections fitted
- Timer cut-off at 2, 4 or 6 hours
- PTC heating element

Read this before you choose. Hazel and Rowan measure 150 by 80 cm single and 160 by 140 cm double: they warm the part of the bed you lie on, not the whole mattress. Oak measures 190 by 90 cm single and 190 by 140 cm double, which is the full length of most mattresses. Neither is a fault; they are two different products, and the difference is the reason Oak costs more.
